MLT Organizational Structure

MLT is led by the Holy Spirit, since Jesus Christ is its Owner. Specifically, He does this though MLT Board of Trustees as the ultimate decision makers.

The Executive Board/Committee acts for the Trustees. The EB/EC appoints and works with The Coordinator (Executive Director) who oversees the day—to-day work of MLT and appoints Departmental Heads (Directors) subject to EB/EC approval. The Directors appoint Managers for Units in their Department once the coordinator approves. Unit Managers recommend Officers for roles in their Units.

Mission for Language Translation

MLT was formed in 2016-2017 by Ika Bible Translation Project as its next step of obedience to the Great Commission. Ika Bible Translation work began in 1998 at Owa-Alidinma (near Agbor) in Delta State, Nigeria. As the work grew, the Team grew in consciousness of the need for Ika people to go and help other language groups to have the Word of God as The Lord said in the Great Commission.

As Ika Bible drew nearer completion, Bible Translation (BT) work in Nigeria went through changes that called for development of more Consultants and Project Advisers to work with Indigenous Peoples for quality/accurate Translations. Some of those changes also created the need for establishment of more Bible Translation Organizations to facilitate BT.

With all this and with prodding from Government, partners and Banks to complete Registration with the Government to protect the work, the Trustees went into registration in late 2016— as MLT, a format that could complete Ika work as well as do Bible Translation for other language groups.

Statement of Faith

We believe that the Bible, the inspired Word of God, is completely reliable, and is the final authority in all matters of belief and practice.
We believe in one God, who exists eternally in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and that He created all things.
We believe that all people are created in the image of God and are valuable to Him, but as a result of sin they are corrupted and alienated from God and each other, and therefore need to be reborn by His Spirit and reconciled.
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, born of the virgin Mary, is fully God and fully human; He demonstrated God’s love for sinners by suffering the penalty of death in their place, rose bodily from the dead and ascended to heaven where He intercedes for His people.
We believe that all who repent and trust in Jesus Christ alone as Lord and Savior are, by the grace of God, declared to be right with Him, receiving forgiveness and eternal life.
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return as a person and in glory, and will raise the dead, and judge the world.
We believe in the resurrection of the dead: that all people will rise from the dead, then those who died in Christ will rise to enjoy eternal life with God, and those who died outside Christ will rise to suffer eternal punishment and separation from Him.
We believe in the Holy Spirit who imparts new life to those who believe in Christ; through His living inside believers and His transforming power He gives believers assurance and equips them for holy living and effective service.
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, the fellowship of all believers, and is commissioned to make disciples of all nations.
